| A little
more than half way to Hana, you will encounter Keanae, a traditional Taro
farming community nestled between the base of Haleakala and the blue Pacific.
As you continue on your trek toward Hana, you will come to a park called Pua'a
Ka'a. There you find a public restroom, which, by now, is a most welcome
sight. |

 |
When you
reach Nahiku, be sure to stop at Jungle Johnny's Fruit Stand, located less than
½ a mile past mile marker 28. You will not want to miss tasting their
world famous coconut candy and enjoy other tropical treats. All of the food
products are harvested from the land there. |
 |
Just
before mile marker 31 is Hana Gardenland, a nursery that can ship potted plants
anywhere in the world for you. They also have a beautiful gift shop filled with
locally-made gifts. If you need a cup of coffee or a healthy lunch, this is
great place to stop, as they also have a small café. |
